Well, Jenny and I were finally able to take a short vacation to Saint Michaels, Maryland this weekend. We had a fantastic time!
Our first morning, we took a 45 km (~ 30 miles) bike loop, starting from Harbourtowne Resort to "downtown" Saint Michaels, and on to the historical district in Easton. There we stopped for a quick bite for lunch at a nice coffee shop. We then continued on our ride to Oxford.
Oxford itself is quite small. We didn't see too much since we just rode on through. However, to get from Oxford to the back leg of our ride, we had to take the Oxford - Bellevue Ferry across the Tred Avon River to Bellevue. It was very refreshing to have a nice wind blowing in our faces. We also met a really nice couple who live in the area that we chatted with for a bit during the boat ride.
As luck would have it, we made it back to Harbourtowne just in time to take a 20 minute dip in the pool to cool off during the hot ride. We then rushed back to our room as a massive storm front edged in. We then watched the storms roll over the bay from the balcony of our room. Very awesome! And, relaxing! Needless to say, our bike trip was the highlight of our vacation!
On Saturday, we met up with Jon and Kirsten to hang out at the Maritime Museum in Saint Michaels. Our museum visit, got cut short however, as another huge storm front rolled in over the bay. It was quite spectacular to see the front come in. It also brought a nice cool breeze (which turned into gusts of wind) with it, which was nice!
Overall, we had a wonderful time. We also had fun reminiscing about our wedding at Harbourtowne and how much fun we had. It was so nice to go back and see it all again!
Wow, you guys are good! The pics are up already and they look great. We got home around 5 PM and are pooped! We had a great time in Mackinaw. Will be fun to compare trips. Love, Mom and Dad
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny and Greg: Looks like you had a great time. I am not sure I could sit on (in?) at saddle for 45km. But anyway, glad you had a fun trip. We had storms too for several days around the Strait of Mackinac. Indian name for it is "wallawater"...
