Aloha all,
In lieu of going to Prague, Jenny, Kat, Shawn, and I decided to take a day trip to Garmisch and the Zugspitze (the highest peak in the German Alps). We had a great time, but ran in to all four seasons during the trip. We ended up taking a train up the mountain, and then took a cable car to the summit. The weather wasn't fantastic and the Zugspitze was mostly socked in clouds. But, the clouds parted for a short moment for us to get some great shots. We had a very nice lunch (indoors -- it was snowing!!) at the restaurant at the summit and had fun playing outside. We then took the cable car all the way down the mountain to Eibsee, a very beautiful lake. Jenny was pretty nervous, but ended up enjoying the ride. All in all, it was a very fun trip, and completely made up for our frustrating day of train travel yesterday. Jenny and I hope to go again soon to experience it in perfect weather.
Pics are below. Enjoy!

Jenny and I outside where the train stopped, just below the summit.
A cool pic of the clouds around the mountains.
Entering the mist!
Jenny in front of the spectacular view of the alps from the summit of the Zugspitze.
Jenny and Kat playing in the snow.
A parting of the sea of clouds. Was pretty awesome.
A view of Eibsee from the cable car on the way down.
A look back to where we came from the top.
Me, sitting in a biergarten by Eibsee. There was no outdoor seating on the mountain since it was snowing so much.
That cool air would sure feel good right now. We're having our usual HHH summer weather.

Nice! Did you get to walk around Garmisch too? It is one of my favorite towns (especially for shopping!)
ReplyDeleteNot really, we should have. It was pretty rainy, actually. I'm sure we'll go back though. What other tips do you have? Perhaps you should show us in person :)
