A Great Weekend!

Aloha all,

Jenny and I had a great weekend this weekend.  We started off on Saturday by going with our new friends Kristen and Brett to a huge wine convention.  We've never seen so much wine in one place.  We had a great time walking around having tastings.  We ended up purchasing a couple bottles, but we also got some really awesome sausage.  All we need now is some good cheese!  We ended the evening by going to Jenny's favorite Greek restaurant, Poseidon, in Garching.  The food was really good, as usual.

Today, we decided to go on a hike.  On a whim we took the train to Kochel, a city about an hour or so south of Munich in the Alps.  Near Kochel is the Walchensee.  We took a hike to the top of a mountain, called Herzogstand, right on the Walchensee.  We hiked about 2 hours to the top, about 1600 meters up.  We had some really fantastic views of the alps and the Walchensee.  It was, however, a definite reminder that we need to get ourselves back in shape, but what better way than to do it by hiking the Alps.

I was able to convince Jenny to take the cable car back to the bottom of the mountain.  She was a bit nervous at first, but very much enjoyed it.  We had such a great time with this trip.  We hope to go back and take another of the many trails around the Walchensee.  Pictures are posted below.
