Beautiful Weekend

I began the weekend by meeting Kristin for lunch, exploring, and coffee in Gartnerplatz. This was a cute area near Haidhausen where neither of us had ever been. My goal is to find a lot of adorable, non-touristy places to bring family and friends when they visit. Friday evening, Greg and I went out for dinner and drinks with a few of his coworkers. We had a great time, and it was nice because we normally stay in during the evenings. Saturday and Sunday we did a LOT of walking because the weather was fantastic. On Sunday, we walked down to Marienplatz, then headed across the Isar and wandered around neighborhoods, along the Isar, through parks, and eventually landed (quite unexpectedly, actually) at a well-known biergarten in the Englischer Garten. We ended up sitting right by the water (with swans and ducks swimming by) and had zwei Helles (two beers) and shared currywurst und pommes frites. YUM! Here are some pictures...

If you look behind me, you can see the red on the building connected to the biergarten. This is actually a fancy-looking restaurant that is shown in tour books. We ate outside with the riff-raff.

  2. So glad you had a nice weekend! Am very jealous of your weather. It is not nice or warm enough here to walk anywhere. Yes, I agree with Mom G, "Keep exploring."
